+4 on the canvas...looks more like a real shield, easier to paint.

IF you decide on painting it without the canvas, I suggest zinc oxide primer, it sticks better to aluminum than the other primers out there.

+1 I think Konstantin pretty much covered most of it. The only thing I could add is that; IF YOU WISH, you could rip the sheet in half length wise, that would give you 2 - 2'x8' strips, then cut those in 3 equal pieces which will give you three (3) shields 24"x32" +/- the loss for the curv...

They use a lot of that in computer packings now a days. I never used it in a helm, but a piece of that does last a decent time. I use neoprene in my helms. It is similar to what Martial arts head protectors use for padding.

According to their website...they are a society standard kingdom. The quote I posted is the one off of the Society handbook (East is also Society standard). I think the "equivalent" that is quoted is NOT on the paracord, it is on the "snug fit" requirement...I am not a Kingdom EM...

It seems to me that your cuisses are about two inches or so short. I would suggest as others have to extend the cuisse down at least that far. Best case scenario is that the cuisse extends the length of the first lame then rivet the top lame of the knee onto the cuisse.

Arms and Armour by Frederick Wilkinson has one of Leonardo da Vinci's drawings on page 81. I have no scanner at present, but that is where it is.

In his drawings, (theoretical?) the pieces all have swivel yokes similar to a swivel gun on a parapet or ship....
