Back in the 90's when I rode for the NRGA, if you unhorsed your opponent, you got to win the show. It was pre-determined who would win the show, but if you knocked the other guy off, you automatically won. Needless to say, this lead to us trying to knock each other off with every pass. I have tons o...

Re: Possibly Selling White Mountain Kettle Hat- if interest
I'm going to put $425 OBRO I would consider partial trades on this. What are you looking for in Trade? hmm.. well.. greaves would be nice, splinted or regular, some padded cuisses, flat riveted aventail, finger gauntlets, the 14th century gambeson from Medieval-market.biz..... umm... I am open to p...

I am presuming that will happen on a case by case basis as folks indicate they want to add balsa to an event. When is the equestrian event you are referring to? There are two events in the Middle this summer that would be able to have balsa jousting. Baron Wars and Seige of Talonval. These events h...

Just concerning the matter of shipping to the CONUS from Ukraine, I've gotten multiple packages shipped from there in two weeks' time. If it took half a year, somebody was either lying or it got eaten and subsequently regurgitated by the Customs monster. All the stuff we got from JollyKnight came i...

A COP over maille I would consider sufficient protection. However, the COP must be of metal construction IMO. A plastic COP might crack under the kind of impact of a balsa strike and would certainly not stand up to a sleeve strike if the balsa broke on the target and the metal had a secondary hit on...

just trying to be as accommodating as possible. Honestly, this is one of the biggest problems with SCA rules and red tape. If you begin to sacrifice common sense and safety to include more people, the chance of injury or incident will rise. When it comes to jousting, and horses in general, I think ...

it is wrenched free by the force of the strike. Guys who chuck lances away don't get invited back as it is considered -very- bad form. I agree. It is a pet peeve of mine to see guys drop the lance mid-run. You MUST be in control the entire pass from taking the lance to handing it down to the squire...

I want to second what John said about the chinstrap requirement. In my incredibly limited experience of getting hit, I did have one shot that skipped up off my shield and into my visor (houndskull basinet). Now this was not a very hard shot at all, but it did jar my helm up and back a bit ( a coupl...

...the back and neck pain, the headaches and such are not worth the fleeting ego glory of those days. Well now, don't get carried away. Wasn't it worth all the nookie? I've been together with the same lady now as I was then. Never did get into the jouster groupie scene. Had many women try, just was...

I'll weigh in briefly. I rely upon my body for income, and I have placed it at hazard in my work life. I have laid four concussions upon my frame totally not related to fighting for fun, but no broken bones. That said: I would like no more concussions, and broken bones or joint damage would negativ...

You didn't get rich and famous by grabbing your crotch and singing some gay little song- you got rich and famous by taking shit away from other people- other people who were ready and willing to kill you to keep you from doing it. If they killed you, then they would steal your shit and impoverish y...
