I got it. I just figured that we were back on that whole "real jouster" topic now.

These are polycarbonite blades. You really can't hit anything with them. If you want a good one for hitting things, you have to get a custom LED or Luxeon one with a much denser blade. You lose the "power up" effect of it going up and down, but you get to hit things. How I know this I will...

I'd rather fall off than pull on my horses mouth. It's the fastest way to sour a horse to the joust short of hitting him the head with a lance. Both are unacceptable IMO.

Back in the 90's when I rode for the NRGA, if you unhorsed your opponent, you got to win the show. It was pre-determined who would win the show, but if you knocked the other guy off, you automatically won. Needless to say, this lead to us trying to knock each other off with every pass. I have tons o...

I have a pair in SS, simple rounds, can be seen in my COTT pic from 06.

I am switching to all mild steel, and these are the last of my SS items.

PM me if interested.

I haven't had to pay a ransom in several years.

I am too dangerous to be left alive I guess!

I too had a purseful of Jehan's coins, some of which I used to buy my Squires freedom after the battle.

I'm going to put $425 OBRO I would consider partial trades on this. What are you looking for in Trade? hmm.. well.. greaves would be nice, splinted or regular, some padded cuisses, flat riveted aventail, finger gauntlets, the 14th century gambeson from Medieval-market.biz..... umm... I am presuming that will happen on a case by case basis as folks indicate they want to add balsa to an event. When is the equestrian event you are referring to? There are two events in the Middle this summer that would be able to have balsa jousting. Baron Wars and Seige of Talonval. These events h...

A COP over maille I would consider sufficient protection. However, the COP must be of metal construction IMO. A plastic COP might crack under the kind of impact of a balsa strike and would certainly not stand up to a sleeve strike if the balsa broke on the target and the metal had a secondary hit on...

Richard has it dead on. This sport is not for the "fly by night" kind of participant. It requires a TON of upkeep, expense and cost. I fully believe that the people that wish this in the SCA will make the effort to both be as safe as possible, and meet stringent requirements of safety. I h...

just trying to be as accommodating as possible. Honestly, this is one of the biggest problems with SCA rules and red tape. If you begin to sacrifice common sense and safety to include more people, the chance of injury or incident will rise. When it comes to jousting, and horses in general, I think ...

it is wrenched free by the force of the strike. Guys who chuck lances away don't get invited back as it is considered -very- bad form. I agree. It is a pet peeve of mine to see guys drop the lance mid-run. You MUST be in control the entire pass from taking the lance to handing it down to the squire...
