Unlikely. If your only combat experience is SCA, an Amtgard sword knight would wreck you

Target Shin in Air + (Polearm Blow x (Full Speed + Full Force)) = Blown Knee I disagree. There are many groups outside the SCA who do this. Why is the injury level of these groups no different than the SCA? Also, if you are hitting with full speed and full force in the SCA with a pole weapon most p...

While only a small percentage of SCA fighters rely on using their indestructible hands to game the system. I would have to disagree with this percentage. There is an entire well known fighting style based on it. Also, many people get hit in the hands in melee and are taught to hold thier swords so ...

YMMV-

Sticking your unarmored hand in a full basket and the rules saying it can't be hit is just as lame as putting a smurf hat on an unarmored head and the rules saying it can't be hit.

Leo, have any SCA fighting groups tried to implement a more rough-and-tumble style of fighting in the past? Not as a "group". There are a very small number of private and invite only combats where SCA "rules" as a whole are toned down and they allow more free ideas. However, the...

Some of us are present Scadians, too. I do SCA on the side, but I wouldn't want to give up my shield-bashing and grappling. David, there are some people in the SCA who wish our fighting was more free form, and more realistic as well. So, fear not, and don't get down when the overwhelming opinion he...

Danish axe. Yep. Or a godenak, they are a blast to fight with, and very rarely do people sluff it. Or, it would make a great scaginata. That funky stick with a small thrusting tip on each end that sport fighters seem to think resembles a medieval weapon and not a common stick that any peasant militi...

I always understood the mass weapon inner thigh kill rule and was unaware it had dropped from fashion

That rule is sweet. It would make up for the inability to hit people in the shin with a polaxe and take them out.

a fair look at unfair reviews I think most people would tend to think a review they didn't like was unfair. No review is fair or unfair. It is the opinion of the person leaving it, and thus it is as it is. As for eBay, I was often at the mercy of sellers who would not leave feedback until you left ...

I don't think it is really over priced per say. Only that our Gift giving holidays are coming up and the American economy is piss poor right now. I could see paying $500+ for a helm that nice. Only right now, I can't afford spending that on another helmet. If times were better, I'd have bought it a...

I am hoping to be able to get a new pair of 1401 full gaunts for jousting without parting with my Moore wisby gaunts I use for SCA..... The bad economy...
