Can anyone tell me where to get this poleaxe from?
One of the guys in my company has one of these axes from Arms and Armor Manufature they bought at Pennsic several years back, and now I got three other people in my group asking where they can get one that matches it. m You can't order anything from them directly it looks like from visiting thier si...

What is the drop dead date or is it dependent on the total numbers you achieve for each side? The numbers will probably be inconsistant as eral life and such makes it unable to have people attend. However, the French team if all the folks who have asked to be on it make Pennsic is three shy of fiel...

I primarily fight with a 13" buckler. I used a center grip heater and it was more fun than a barrel of monkey's. So much so that I got one. If you like moving and chopping and footwork you will love it. If you like hiding with a huge shield and counterpunching you will not like it. Just my .02 from ...

I would like to ask and invite two worthy nobles to fight upin the side of St Dennis at the 2007 battle of the 30. If Sir Nigel MacFalane and His Excellency Sir Sarnac Kir would join our forces I would be both humbled, and most honoured. The addition of two most worthy and renown gentles would be a ...

I would like to invite Sir Vitus Litold von Atzinger and his most worthy Esquire Jehan dePelham to join me upon the field at the 2007 Battle of the 30. Jehan, if you cannot attend, I will create a banner in your arms and fly it proudly during the fight. It is the least I can do for one of the people...

IMO the solution is better training not more rules. I totally agree. The problem is that some folks train a lot, and some folks train some, and some don't train at all. I've seen people fight three times a year, and some three times a week. It's so wide and varied that I think that full combat will...

I long for the day we fight "as armored", and with weapons not designed to sport fight, but to be as the weapons were. When I was a young lad too young to fight SCA I recall the weapons I saw looked like real ones. Somewhere between then and now winning overtook the desire to use the same equipment ...

Hail Sir Virus! Yes that is I in my new surcoat made for that very day. I have even MORE armor now and intend by vow to wear it for SCA. I liked when one fellow lifted my wing up to see what was under it and said, wow, there is full armor in there. I aspire to be a knight, and thus by my oath made t...

It's nowhere near as scary as a lot of SCA people would like you to think. Animal, trained and confident warriors who engage in combat as a way of life are fine with these things. However, the SCA is a LARGE pool of combat and it's rules to be blunt and honest are for what I call the "lowest common...

Befor the first 30 I believe it was Sir Kieran who addressed the assembled sides to say that he accepted that he might be broken in this deed and that he accepted and embraced that possibility. That is the attitude intended originally and I hope the attitude that will prevail. Yes, that was I. I wa...

Being involved in the 30 several years ago insipred me to improve my SCA equipment, and inspired me to be more accurate and more attentive to the details of my portrayal and what I wanted to accomplish as an SCA re-enactor. My dream Pennsic is all rez battles, 2 hours on the clock, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday off for shopping . That being said, I liked the effort that the folks put into making special scenarios for us to fight in. It was refreshing after 12 years of same old same old. The ri...

Build a town. If you build it they will come! I had fun, but the lines and bales were gone long before the battle ended. I wish they would have let us fight the additional 5 minutes just because I was having so much fun. Got shot by arrow and ballista, neither hurt ne in my non-pajama armor. Fought ...

Too many other things going on and a serious lust for a new bike next month. I totally understand. What doesn't injure you might well put others in the hospital. Hmmm, I think I've actually heard that one before. Perhaps it's just me, but I've never felt the need to get my panties in a bunch about shots. My opponent either takes it or doesn't. I don't even need to hear why in a melee. I may ask,...

I got shot at by a couple of archers on the east side, and was missed both times. BUT, it got me woke up that's for sure! I don't mind it at all. I've taken spear thrusts to the side and top of the head that have hit with the same force as a good body shot. This is one of the instances where the "safety" rules of the game (a lighter face shot) make no sense when they hit the side of the head and are too light to be good but if they face shot ...

Which rules are in effect at eaach war, and are all combatants playing by them, and not by their own kingdom's criteria. This is an excellent question. To be honest, I have always played by our kingdom standard simply because I am a creture of habit and in combat people have a tendancy to fight and...
