My squire has one. It's tough as hell, and made it through Pennsic, the COTT and several ploeaxe classes.

If the tape were removed from sca swords as a requirement, would it open up the game to different striking options? Well, one school of thought, which has us using the rattan as a rebated "sword" would say that the shots it opens up are mostly historically innacurate (flat). So, it would ...

Covered Globose with faulds for sale

I find myself in need of some quick cash so my loss can be your gain. Spring steel 14 G covered BP with faulds. Used for jousting for 4 tournamnents, one year of SCA events. Cover does have some wear, gold in color with floral gold pattern. ROCK SOLID. Took several direct lance hits and did not dent...

I could never get my mind around placing an obvious edge upon an item that is quite cylindrical in shape. The edge of any sword that I have used, either ground down to a sharp edge of kept thick for safety, are no where near the width of a taped sca stick. It appears to be about 1.5-2 cm in width! ...

It is all about the benefit of the control of using a basket over a hilted weapon. Try the experiment of going part of a practice with gauntlets and a hilted sword, and then baskets. I have two swords, they are exactly the same length, and balance mostly, and almost the same weight. I am able to hav...

I have used both, and can tell you with certainty that baskets, as they are used in the SCA, are a clear advantage when compared with hilted weapons. As the hands do not count when struck, no armor needs be worn there under the basket. The basket allows a level of control on the sword that legal ful...

I have two single handed swords.

One is the dimensions of the sword of St. Maurice of Turin and one is the dimensions of the Albion Reeve blade. I have dress versions of both, so that is what I use for combat.

All of my other SCA weapons are the dimensions of a historical counterpart as well.
