Im called a coward for letting go of my weapon to reset the fight, But if i use my natural advantage to bodycheck or grapple im called a cheat. How is this fair? I am not a coward. I think it is quite so. Why? OK, let me explain. I use full gauntlets. Thus, I am fighting sword and shield with a qui...

I am recalling an effigy of a helm that has a rounded nose visor, lifted up with the face showing, on a bascinet, mounted on side hinges. I think it's on my PC...I'll try to find it.

I wish you lived closer....we do a class once a month called poleaxes and hot dogs. If you can get your hands on one, there is a video from a group called Ochs about the german longsword. I highly recommend it. The video is a great benefit because you can actually see how the stuff is done, instead ...

I keep forgetting this isn't real fighting. My apologies. I keep looking at it as a medieval contest of arms, where no knight of his time would willingly give up his weapon and be at the mercy of his opponent if given a choice in the matter.

After a good sanding, clean it, and wipe it with alcohol or another degreaser. If you are going to store it for a while, a good high quality auto wax is great. If you are going to be using it like once a week, a coating of virgin olive oil and re-applying after handling/fighting works. If you are go...

I have a personal bias against reaching for a backup dagger while you still have two good hands. You give up all of the advantages of choosing a pole arm in the first place when you do so . bolded the important part. If you lost the fight, what advantage was there for you to keep both hands on your...

I'd revamp the book.

SCA Rules and Conventions of Combat-Revision 1,234,322

Rules-

#1- Don't be a dick.

#2- Be excellent to each other.

#3. Don't break your buds. Use a harness you feel safe in.

#4. If you have a question about something, refer to rule #1.

They are legal as is. However, they need to be revamped because the glue is not enough to hold on the fingers for SCA combat. They will need to be stitched to the glove. I've had to do that to every pair but my Moore gaunts.

How does one "lead with your head" and who cares if you do? This. I don't understand this "lead with his head". I mean, did he try to head butt someone? If he just had his head out in front of his body this is the dumbest thing I've heard. And I heard some dumb stuff last week.
