I was once asked "your Majesty, just how hard do I have to hit you?" to which I looked bewildered and said "ummm when" and the answer was that I had been hit with a walloping Poleaxe shot to the helm..... I never even felt it... ( I trust the man who questioned me ) I apologized...

The knight swung and I swung with my bastard sword...and he is just standing there looking at me...I reply that I am not wearing any armor there and didnt feel anything. He gets even more mad and tells me that is my first warning for rhino hiding a Knight ... calls a hold and first asks the fighter...

Me, I'd go with the "reputable" seller. I know when I buy from Icefalcon, I'm getting what I ordered, and he stands behind it 120%. The allure of saving a few bucks in shipping does me no good if the item never comes, or the quality stinks. I own all Icefalcon maille for these reasons. YMMV.

"no matter what your wearing, your still wearing chain and open faced helm" Takeda, I have come to the realization this is a myth. The SCA armor standard is not possible as written. The way we do fight is more akin to the civilian longsword taught in the latter centuries, with civilian ga...

I've seen quite alot of talk about the armor factorbeing a contributor to the perception of rhinoing... (ie the guy has too much armor/padding, does not feel it) Maybe this is a good reason to exaine the role of historical armors in the SCA better? Some did protect a heck of alot better and needed ...

My BiL fought in a barony-wide Toys for Tots tournament last year against another unbelted who before the fight told him, matter-of-factly, "Just so you know, I'm going to win this tournament." Well, they commenced the fight. My BiL hit him solidly but not excessively in the leg. "Li...

My lord, How DO you define "cowardice"? I just wanted to put an answer to this. Cowardice is not being man enough to admit defeat in a baton combat where honour is supposed to be the core of the system. Hehe.. so is skewered through the harbles "defeat"? Well, it has been each t...

One of my guys had a spear broke on his nads at Val Day. He was a bit upset, not because of the shot, but because it was the second one in as many rez's from the exact same fighter. I am of the school the less armor you wear the better you get and the more honestly you can identify shots.

That is what the SCA armor standard should be anyhow. Civilian clothing with a leather coif and gloves.

I wear armor because I'm not a serf.

What strikes me the most is that they all have great kits in pretty much every video. I wonder why their medieval fighting groups can pull that off but here in the SCA we cannot. Is it just a matter of motivation? Rules (that allow em to field so many despite restrictions)? Availability? I dunno. I...

I would like to get this going in the Middle. But I am a stickler for accuracy and scope of the tourney, and to be blunt, one of the things that turned me off about the SCA jousting was the allowing of items and anachronisms that drew away from the total scope of the tilt. With styrofoam, sure plast...

How did he choose the breastplate? The rest of the armor is the stuff I am trying to put together (arms, shouders, legs) but the breastplate I have seen with the style is very different. Was that from his romance armor?

I agree about the force, but that is the difference between skilled swordsmanship and neandertal clubbing with a metal rod. I think if they were trying to kill one another it would look much differently.

I did notice a lack of spears as well. I guess they left the serf levy at camp!
