I live in Walnut. La county. California. I have an apartment, hence no noise. I want to get a house so bad so i wont have to care about noise levels and have a forge and stuff. I like the great helm idea. ^^. The sandbag rawhide hammer would be acceptable i think. ^^ I have Tin snips, Patience (fro...

I pretty much always take leg blows as a loss. As Animal said, my dignitah and my knees can't take crawling around on the ground. I just tell my opponent the situation and if they propose counted blows, I go for it. I have not yet had anyone complain or say anything negative. I have been asked to pl...

Early Greek Armour and Weapons, by Snodgrass has a very little bit to say. Limb armor, other than greaves are found rarely, and seldom represented in art. He gives a word for thigh-guard. I can't cut&paste from m so, you'll have to translate it yourself. paramnpi(with a bit of a line over the '...

I don't think they would hit harder than a greatsword, so I don't think it's a safety issue. I don't see why we can't build them like Sir Corby's design, with the head being rattan. My objection to the padded ones is that they go *thud* not !CRAK! Pillow on a stick. Indeed. I also find it changes h...

This is one of those inter-Kingdom things. Having played around with some Ansteorran notables with bastage swords, I can tell you Ansteorra interprets the rules about grasping, trapping, and grappling more leniently than most other Kingdoms. Shoulder-checking is pretty much the norm in bastard swor...

A local lady Centurion showed me a little single sword trick which takes a bit of timing: as you close to zero range, throw a shot at the stick to bind it in place, quickly place your gauntleted hand on the sword continuing the bind and throw a kill shot. YOu don't ever really grasp the blade, you s...

cold castle - castellum frigidum cold shore - littus frigidus rocky shore - littus petrosus or saxeus people of the sea - gens maris Those are good, but a couple of corrections: littus should be spelled litus (only 1 T), and it's neuter ( litus, litoris - 3rd declension). So 'cold shore' is: litus ...

Here in Trimaris (I am almost certain) you may not grasp a blade with your hand, gauntleted or not. You may grab the haft of a glaive or spear but not the bladed part.

I did not say grasp, I said place.
