I wonder why I keep getting pissed on when I punch a sheild with my sheild?

Why not use a guige strap since that's what they're for? I commend your desire to fight as your persona would have. Thing is in a war you won't be lone wolfing it without any support. Generally there is a sheild wall with spearmen behind. You'll find yourself in one of those roles so you'll be part ...

OK we are on the same page obviously i didn't say what i was trying to say very well. Addressing your second statement Audax I am authorised both heavy and what was light and now also heavy archer, i very rarely fight light as i much prefer the enjoyment of heavy combat. I can see where you guys ar...

It's the Anvil of Virtue. By putting body and honor on the line, one is able to find the innate nobility in oneself. By fighting those better and at the same level one is forced to rise to the occasion. Just as fire and hammer cleanse impurities and create beauty, so does fighting bring out the best...

That's because you haven't really read what we've been saying. Try again, squire. Well if i understand what you are saying Sir Rhys, you don't like CA's because they are not period and no lord would pick up a bow in period, correct? All well and good but that is not the game that we play good Sir w...

Sa-weet! Good looking, well made, very happy customer. Easy transaction. If you've ever thought about buying one of his pouches, you won't be disappointed.

Because some people will cry. Because no matter what, some people want to be low brow and peasanty, so they can be jerks, even when everyone in the game is assumed to be of the lesser nobility. Because there are some who have to contrary just for the sake of being contrary. And because some people w...

Oh yeah. I should have also mentioned that I'm working yet another kit. I tried chainmaille as in this pic m but it didn't work out since I have to have rigid chest protection which means adding a breastplate under the chain- not very efficient. So now I'm after something more like this one- m Migh...

I'm sorry you didn't get to go to Candlemas, Maelgwyn. YOur sheilds look great and I know you've done a lot of work on them. Ronnin, to summarize Murdock's advice in Latin, festina lente. Make haste slowly. It's not like SCa fighters aren't known for having several different sheilds. Get one togethe...

Soupcan knees are pretty quick to pound out. It's what Ty's wearning now. Uther did a lot of the work on them in an evening. We could scale the pattern to fit you. A greave which covers the knee is certainly possible. We could modify the greave pattern I've been playing with lately to add a knee. B...

YOu know you can just sand, prime and paint the bubbled one. You don't have to get all fancy like Maelgwyn. YOu can use a simple edging like trim lock, put some canvas or burlap over it, saturate with glue and then paint. It's nice to go to the extra effort but it's not necessary for practice purpos...

There was no evidence of Troy til it was found. That actually is not true. There was evidence of it just not physical evidence of it. If there is written evidence of viking leather armour in say the Sagas then that actually is evidence. It may not be the best evidence that can be had for something ...

There was no evidence of Troy til it was found. It was completely dismissed by mainstream researchers as legend and nothing more at the time. I'm not saying the Vikings had leather armor, just that it can't be said they didn't with complete certainty. New stuff is always coming to light that changes...

Gee, I guess all those stories of soldiers stripping armor off of dead foes are pure fantasy. Just for fun, cite a viking age source that backs this up (I can think of ONE off the top of my head and not only is is very late, its context is questionable) And I've never read a book in my life, spent ...

Hey Barnet, looking forward to seeing you at practice. I made a pair of hardened leather shynbalds which I like but my knee cops keep slipping and it drives me nuts. So I was thinking that a one piece knee/greave combo would circumvent the issue. If I had the armoring chops I might give a Roman styl...

One piece knee/shin armor
What options do I have for this besides a shovel knee greave or maybe the Rally Race Face leg armor mentioned by Saint-Sever on a few occasions? I prefer such an arrangement for my low profile leg and knee armor. I need knees and want greaves, though they are not really period for my persona. Gettin...
