Also did you use just an acrylic silver paint or is it leather paint? Did you dish the elbow or is it natural from the sewing together? Thanks Thjoren Torvaldr water h...

Check Ironmonger, he has a munitions bascinet for $125, all his helms are built to the fighters specs. Armor and castings sells a Pembridge for $100. I have one and I really like it. Just got to get used to seeing out of the thing. Those are the best prices from good armorers I've found. I'm a broke...

getting stop sign off the post
I have a stop sign (legally acquired) that still has part of the post attached with some kind of uber-rivet (when did they stop using screws, dammit).
Any ideas how to get that bad boy off?
Thanks,

Hence my point. If you're going to ban Combat Archery based on the premise that we're all Nobles and SCA events are to beconsidered as Tournaments or Melees, then one should also ban female combatants and all other non chivalrous personas. Sorry, bub, women in armor show up in period documents (Jea...

I fight in a closed face helm and I see no reason why, with a few mods to improve vision and airflow, I can't enjoy success fighting in it. I think a bargrill is appropriate if you are simulating an open faced helm like a bascinet with the visor removed or a Norman conical or something to that effec...

When alexander the great took over the persian empire, he adopted the Immortal's as his own unit. The Immortals faced discimination fro mthe Macedonian captains and soldiery who viewed them as cowards, and little more than glorified archers with spears. The french knights viewed the english longbow...

Maybe this will help sum up why some people don't like CA: The SCA is a warrior culture. Fighters fight, and so much of what we do is centered around supporting and admiring this fact. CA'ers, for the most part, participate in the fighting, but don't fight. Their perceived purpose and use on the fie...

I was worried that my bunny crest would break apart at the "joints". (I papermached two balloons, then connected them together with more papermache. My papermache was regular news paper and wood glue cut with half water.) It didn't. The stress from bouncing back and forth and ducking mace strikes,....

I think that lamellar would have been more common in regions where light harness was the norm, i.e., Outremer, Mediterranean Europe, the Balkans, maybe into parts of Russia, by the 14th century. In northern Europe the style of warfare and perhaps climate made a difference in the types of defences th...
