Hi all,

I got one of these from Amos a few weeks ago and got to use it at an event this weekend. Hits with good authority and everyone loved the look of it. I painted mine with metallic gold Rub n Buff and it looks awesome.

Thanks again, Amos.

It was quite common in the Middle East in the Medieval period. Byzantines used it, Turks as mentioned, Saracens, Crusaders were introduced to it and made use of it.

I think heavy leather sabatons will look very clunky and obviously ahistoric, even if Torvaldr makes them(he is a superb leather worker. I love my gaunts by him.) I love my lamellar, offers enough protection, while being quite light and flexible. Got it from Noble plastics, used the pewter auks and people can't tell they're plastic unless I tell them. Regarding the cabasset vs. middle eastern interpretations. Did either one of these have kings? A friend just pointed me at this: http://www.fragmentsoftime.com/provocator_gladiator.htm

It seems the provocator was much like the Samnite but used a spear rather than sword and often fought against the myrmillio.

Have you specific questions you'd like answered?

I am a producer working on a documentary and need some help. We will be re-creating a scene (see picture below) and need help identifying the weapons.
