I want that sabre, but it would pretty much just sit in my closet until the spring or summer when I've finally got the time to learn how to make A hilt (let alone one that looks good). It's not that hard. I've made them with nothing but a drill and some files and some chamois to wrap the grip. myar...

Stainless will be next to zero maintenance. Mild will be lots of maintenance to keep the rust at bay.

That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Is there any EMP in Texas?

And, Duke Gaston, my cousin, we simply must have a go at this at some point. Some of that karate crap I spent all those years learning seem applicable in EMP in ways they don't in the SCA.

If its blue or white please consider a Corrazina, Churburg #13 or coat of plates/ Brigindine style armour.
All of these styles make it a lot easier to cover the plastic parts as well as being a bit quicker to construct.

Generally the mail is sewn to a leather strip which is then riveted onto the helm or held in place by vervelles.

I never recommend full speed, multiple rep pell work unless your goal is to have damaged joints. My theory of pell work involves working on returns, combos and placement, all at slow to medium slow speed. If we were working together I almost guarentee the first words out of my mouth (as a trainer) ...

Moog, Keeper of the Terminator Artichoke. The good Baron is correct in that the SCA considers mail a costume accessory. Seperate mail mittens did see use in the early 14th century. If you intend to use them for the SCA you'll have to have a legal gauntlet underneath. haha. The whole SCA or just you...

I agree with his Grace that sole bend is overkill. I pruchased a hide a few weeks ago and while it is really good stuff, very consistent and hardens well, it's a real PITA to cut and overkill for SCA armour. I'm going back to saddle skirting.

What does 'sole bend' mean? I'm trying to figure out what all the terminology means right now. Sole bend is the thickest part of the hide that is then compressed by machine to make it @1/4 inch thick, stiff and very very tough. It's what they make shoe soles from. If you google "leather termin...
