Yes, to all the above. You can brush dye it or paint it, you can do it before or after you bake. If you want to brush dye it, invest in some blocking solution to prevent the dyes from blending together. Whatver coloring you add do it before adding any wax or other sealer. Can't paint ot dye over wax.

What's wrong with painting it? That's how I blacken mine.
I suppose you could use cold gunblue.
Nothing at all just wondering what my other options were.
Okay. Just thought you had some crazy prejudice against black paint.

Well, I already make vambs and bazus. Made a set with matching greaves, vambs and an interpretation of the Churburg 13 in leather for mctavish. Making a set of vambs and bazus for Noe. Some hard leather splints for Derian. So armour is covered. I was thinking things like chef and Malcolm suggested. ...

Re: "Versus de scachis"
Anyone know where I can find an English translation of this Medieaval Latin poem. My googlefu is failing me. I can find tons of pages with the Latin poem or references to it, but not translation. You may want to to try babelfish, if I remember right it does English to Latin translating. Very badly,...

They are Clanne Prechainne. (pronounced Per Shawn) Yes it is a neo-celtic-druidic ritual where the women escort the men (armed) to the battlefield then consecrate/bless them before the battle. Its not 'neo' per-say the ladies of Prechainne read in some of the Roman accounts about the women of Brita...

So Audax, you soak overnight, let sit for a while, bake at 180 for...? 20 minutes? Take out and let sit? The whole springy concept may be what's throwing me. My stuffi s pretty rock solid after it's initial waxxing. Maybe time for another test. What I do, depending on the thickness of the leather I...
