heraldry as we know it is european, not ottoman, which will be a large historical stumbling block. SCAwise, check out the heraldry primers on sca.org for rapid prototyping of heraldric charges, go here: m and it will autogenerate pretty pictures for you. I agree it will a bit of a stumbling block, ...

Where to start Heraldry

I will be receiving my new shied here shortly. It's a 26" round domed with a center boss on it. It will also come with a piece of canvas for me to cover it with. I want to paint it, I'd like to come up with something for my heraldry, but I have no clue where to start. I don't know yet if I even...

Ottoman maces?????

I need pics of Ottoman maces. I've got an idea that may work for an SCA mace that should turn out pretty neat, but my collection of images on these is fairly slim, can anyone help me?

If you sandwich the plate between two pieces of fabric then you will need a washer to keep the fabric from being ripped up by the peened end of the nail. I would suggest, though, that you really don't need the nail to go through the liner. If you put the nail through the outer cover, then the plate...

Okay so its: 1.) Drill hole in plastic 2.) place nail on table 3.) push nail though fabric 4.) put plastic on fabric, nail though hole 5.) push nail though fabric (sandwiching the plastic in fabric) 6.) snip end off of nail (i have some strong bolt cutters somewere) 7.) Ball-peen hammer to top of n...

Alvar, you look great for first kit. Better than many people who have been fighting for years. Have you considered using a heater as a shield? You seem to be putting together a 14th century style harness and the round shield doesn't seem to fit. But he's also got a Morion on order, to me it appears...

I love the shovel face. I think adding some brass accents, or even finding someone to weld a small finial or topper to the top would go a long way to eliminating the spun top look. It would draw your eye to the vertical and not the horizontal where you can still see the lines from the spinning. my ....

They are very nice. Are they for SCA use? If so, I would be a tad concerned that they won't cover the sides enough. They are for SCA they are deeper than they appear in the photo's from other pics I have seen. Him and I discussed this very issue, they should be ok for combat but I won't know for su...

Tapas are very period, but using the best ingredients for Tapas is what makes it great. At this point decent veggies (in bulk) are hard to come by and expensive now. If we (in the SCA) all moved from baskets to guantlets, would guantlets not be over represented then? Especially given the wide cultural expanse of the SCA. I don't think so. Gauntlets fit more into the SCA period than baskets do. Of course we'd also have to count in how many persona's wouldn't hav...
