Josh W has some pics somewhere of similar ones I put together. I think it kind of shows the whole assembly from the pics he's taken. Maybe he'll chime in and put 'em up for us. I did this 'pac man' piece but left the back end elongated so that I could cold raise the protective flare and curl it over...

I've got images of turkish chain shirts without the plates and most of the shirt will be covered by a turkish coat in any case. Its that area from the top of the sternu...

I'm planning on doing this with my shirt as well. I have seen examples of folks using laces all the way up and down the shirt, takes a bit of time to get in and out of but it work. Most of the front opening hauberks I've seen of the turkish persuasion have metal plates either integral or riveted on ...

Not saying you shouldn't complete the gorget, but it sounds like you need to figure out another way to strap you're helm. It shouldn't be moving that much.

Turkish boots

Can anyone give me any idea's for last half of the 15th cent. Ottoman Turk footwear? Specifically boots. I've a few images but do not know any documentation on them. Before I post in the classifieds looking to get some I'd like to make sure they are appropriate. Can anyone tell me about these? Thanks

Period padding?15th cent. Ottoman

I've got a helm on order now, I can just pad it with blue foam but I'd rather not. Anyone know what padding I should use? Would a small 'turban' or headscarf that is removable from the helm be appropriate? I think it would be interesting to have my head covering be sepearate from the helm and could ...

I'm very interested in seeing what you are able to make of this. Just an idea from someone who is not an expert. Would it be better to use a piston or a lever action to flatten your rings. Think along the lines of ferriers nippers but with flat portions on the jaw part. Something big enough to be ha...

Question for those who use these. Which shirts provide the best overall coverage/protection.

Do you just use the one with kidney protection or sternum?

I'm considering using this under my maille for padding. Do you use more padding over the hex pads as well?

Not that I'd be able to make it to Pennsic any time soon, I'd love to see more period based battles. I think the problem with a maille only battle ( as much as I would enjoy it) is that there are too many period/cultures to cover. It would need to be more specific. I"m currently working on my k...
