Large shear

Guess this could fit in this forum. This is a rather large metal shear my roommate has sitting in the back yard. I don't know much about it but would like to. It appears to be very hefty and able to cut seriously thick metal. Don't remember the company off hand but I know it was made in Worcester Ma...

Kronos makes a clamshell gauntlet that sorta looks like that. Lots of lames, excellent articulation and protection and all that. He can do that cuff you want but I dunno if he's still making mail but he can definitely do the gauntlet part. He sent me a picture of his clamshells, edited to add I fig...

Thanks for the better pic. I do know that these are lames on a maille mitten, I'm hoping I can find something that looks like that even if it is not quite the same. I think the zweihammer kit could work but I don't know that I have the time/place to knock it out at this time. I'll have to keep looki...

maybe looking to buy gauntlets.

Once I'm able to sell a piece or two of armour I will probably be in the market for some gauntlets to go along with my Ottoman kit. This picture shows the gaunts and bazubands together. I currently have the bazubands on order, I need a pair of gaunts that resemble these. I think the cuff could be le...

Pics? It is too small for you? How tall are you and how much do you weigh? What are the plates made of? I don't have pics of my own yet, Maybe Bairdec or Russ Mitchell could chime on this one, hopefully. I am 6'2" tall and between 260 to 270 lbs depending on the time of year. Someone of my hei...

FS Armoured Caftan

I've purchased a Caftan that I recently purchased from Bairdec, who I believe originally purchased it from it's maker Russ Mitchell. Constructed of a wool lining on the interior, natural color linen for the exterior cover with plates in between to protect the squishy bits. It's just slightly too sma...

... I do WMA... One really positive thing about the SCA ... Here is one more: you can reality-check your WMA techniques. If they work in SCA, they may have worked in period. If they don't work in SCA, they won't have worked in actual battle. Do you really believe the SCA is indicative of what comba...

I think that if you are patient and willing to maybe sit out a practice or two sometimes that eventually we will get to the point where people realize that just because you wear a gorget it still doesn't mean your safe. I've run across a few local people who just didn't get it at all. I had a pair o...

Here's where my kit is at. over the winter i re-worked my torso armour to be tailored and front opening, bringing it more in like with period examples, i also added in an integral gorget, then covered it all up with maille. swapping out the butted maille for riveted maille is still an ongoing task ...

I think the best way to handle this is to use a supplier and have the make a "SCA" color. Lets say a nice deep purple or, god forbid, a silver-gray shade. Of course we'd still have to put a strinking edge on it. I'm all for the purple with a gold striking edge.......then you'll all be Cal...

Rugs would be great, I'd also suggest picking up some nice fabrics that you may or may not be able to get over on this side of the pond. Also maybe some decent smallwares cups, beakers, pouches things like that.
