Yes. The armourer already offered to re-do the helm. Since there is normally a lengthy wait to get a new helm like this, I decided to see first if there is anyone who this helm would work for.

Hardened steel bascinet for sale
I'm looking to sell my bascinet, which has only been used at one practice. It is made from 14 gauge 1050 steel, hardened & tempered. Made by Jeff Wasson. It is currently padded with 1/4" closed cell foam and 1/2" open cell foam hidden inside a linen liner, but it's a tad too small for ...

Re: Finger Gauntlets & Rattan
I already own a pair of "finger mittens" in hardened spring steel from Jeff Wasson - I'm now looking to go for the real thing. So far, I am leaning towards grounding fingers, since I know that I do get struck in the hands while fighting with greatsword or polearm, and my basket hilts tend ...

Finger Gauntlets & Rattan
I'm in the market for a set of finger gauntlets, and I'd like to hear some feedback on how people have faired with them in the SCA. Specifically, are grounding fingers an insurmountable pain in the butt or is the increased protection worth it?

Sorry for the late reply, kids ate up all my free time yesterday, not that I'm complaining. The gaunts have only been used three times. They fit in my basket hilt and in my center boss sheild. WTB/WTT Finger gauntlets
I'm in the market for a pair of finger gauntlets. I'm not looking for hourglass gauntlets - I think I would be most interested in a simplified "Wisby" style. They don't need to ground out - I am looking for gauntlets to be used behind a shield that has no shield basket (my Mylec got bounce...

I wear my monks robes for non-martial activities and wear a "crusader" style tabard on the field. There are some folks who use robes on the field though.

Yeah well the archive has rubbed off on me a bit and for some reason I was worried about taking a period bit of armor and turning it into an abomination even if it's covered. If I recall correctly someone on here once posted about putting a line of heavy butted rings going from the neck to the arm ...

Umm... instead of letting the compression of the foam reduce the momentum transfer to your head and thus the dramatic movement of your head, wouldn't the hardening of the zoombang much more directly transfer the momentum TO your head and thus increase the probability of whiplash/concussion? Since o...

I don't have the exact specs of the weapon available now, but I've been playing with a "falchion" on and off for a while now. It's roughly 32" with an Anshelm Arms aluminum cup hilt on it, made of 2" rattan shaved down to around 1.25". At practice last night, I made a point ...

Attach it to a wide plywood base which you will stand on while using the pell.
Or sink some 4" diameter pipe in a large bucket of cement so you can pull the padded pole out of it for storage.

From reading his posts, it sounds like Aelric was trying to check his opponents weapon with his. If he was aiming for her body, then it sucks and was wrong. If he was going for haft to haft contact with the weapon and it didn't work out, then it is incidental contact and would not upset me. I am not...

I ordered a flat ring wedge riveted stainless steel aventail once...they must be really hard to make cause its been a couple of years and I still don't have it!
Seriously though, I would recommend one from Ice Falcon or welded from weldedchainmail.com.

Re: Market survey : COP kit prototype
I think an 18 gauge mild or galvanized set would be really useful. I would prefer if the plates for the back more closely resembled the ones in the front and it closed on the sides though. I tend to prefer armor that I can easily get into and out of myself, plus it offers better spine coverage.
