Another tent would work, that's what my camp did last year.
Before you store it, make sure to dry it in the sun, it'll smell less.

If you post a picture of where the gaps are, I could give a more educated suggestion.
Also the material of the hilt matters.

Well, it's no longer the spring, and this picture is from the winter, but here is what I look like.

Extra points if you can identify the other Archiver lurking in the background.

Thanks for the data, keep it coming. Olaf, What type of hauberk are you wearing? Rivetted? As of tonight I have a Norman helm coming to me from James River Armoury and a stainless hauberk from Knuut. The rest of the kit will be built around this, and I expect to have no money for armor for some time...

Review of Ld Ragnar MacHardy

I went to MacHardy looking for leather to make a c-belt. He was quick to respond and told me he had something that would do. When the leather got here I was shocked. I thought I was buying some scrap piece, but what arrived was a large piece - enough for probably 3 belts and then some - of what is l...

Drogo,
Great look.
Does the maille cover your legs?
Are you wearing anything other than the gamboised cuisses on your thighs?

Attn Chain Gang

How much does your maille kit weigh?
I'm contemplating a hauberk that is 15% of my body weight...plus the helm and the rest of the armor.
How does that work out for everyone else?
Is a kit that is 40% of your weight standard?

Since we all love pictures, feel free to post that too.

Perhaps slightly off-topic, but I'm curious: What is the difference between a carved and balanced rattan sword and a "waster?" I've had people tell me that they don't like using rattan because it feels like a club, but they will use wasters. To me that just seems unnecessarily pretentious....

I bought one of Allen's (of knownworldt.com) aluminum and SS cup hilts as a gift. It's probably the nicest one I've ever handled. Made by AB hammer I think.
Allen's a good guy too.

Justus,

I've been coveting your axe since you posted it, I now have a bunch of scrap leather lying around and I wanna try my hand at something similar.
If you don't mind, how long is your axe? I'd like to have a reasonable starting point for this.

Thanks,

If you only have one shield and it has to work for both melee and tourneys, that is something to take into consideration.
Can you buy a new shield that is 24x36 for melee and cut a smaller one out of the remnants of your old shield?

How? I sent him a few e-mails, PMed him here, nothing back yet and it's been a couple of weeks for some of the e-mails. In the past I was able to contact him promptly via e-mail. Does anyone have a reliable way to get in contact with Master Knuut? I'd really like to give him money and buy a hauberk....

What's the minimum age? What about someone who isn't authorized in the SCA yet but I am certain would make a good showing in the tournament if he was allowed to fight?

Review of Eldesar.com

I just got my aluminum lamellar in today, it looks really good, the plates are consistent and TINY! I expect lots and lots of flexibility out of this suit.
I'd recommend eldesar.com to anyone looking to purchase lightweight lamellar, especially as a good alternative to plastic.

The Revival one claims to be 100% cotton.
The Revival Clothing one says it's 100% linen shell stuffed with 100% cotton.

So will one really be much cooler than the other?

Options for cleaning it:
Wear it and move a lot (wear it over a shirt you don't care about).
Wire brush the whole thing.
Roll it with sand.
Dip it in Evapo-Rust.

One of those ought to do the trick.

Actually, I assumed that by E=MV^2 he meant E=MC^2, just changing the variable.
Which is a true statement, but I'm not certain it has anything to do with swinging a stick. Unless you are completely burning the stick at the same instant.

Or not.

I've put in a little work on my helm, hopefully I'll get back to it soon. I've done the preliminary dishing on all 4 panels and all 3 bands, and I cut the brow and front-to-back bands. I've only drilled like 2 holes so far though...I really want to finish this. Adam P.S.-Awesome kit Halberds.
