I've seen rebar forged to shape work quite well. Especially the high tensile stuff.

Re: how come the back of the thighs wernt protected on knigh
When I first started my interest in plate armour, I worried about things like the back of the thighs, the inside of the thighs, inside the elbows, things like that. I had similar worries with all those leather straps on Italian harnesses of the 15thC. When I started in WMA, I came to realise that th...

Re: milanese breastplate and backplate pattern
Attempting a Milanese cuirass, if you've not done other projects leading up to it, is a daunting task. How much armour have you made previously? I would suggest that as leadup pprojects, you try your hand at earlier brestplates, like from the late 14thC or such, and work your way up to the more comp...

It's certainly coming along. I have no real contribution to make, and thus no worthwhile content to put into a post...but I just wanted to express my admiration for the projet so far.

Glad to see you back, Mac, I was beginning to think some horrid event had happaned to you.
It sure is nice seeing the tent come together, though I suspect you find it even nicer.
What do you mean that the seam will be staggered at the bottom?

1 Look at pictures. 2 Make drawings. 3 Evaluate drawings. 4 Make more drawings. 5 Do as Wade says. Mac Boy oh boy is this true. For my current set of legs (in planning) I've spent about 10 hours drawing, redrawing and drawing again. I think I'm not quite ready yet to start cutting out steel (right,...

Graham; whenever I see a thread started by you with the word 'progress' in the title I rush to read it, as there's always some amazing work and/or some enlightening tidbit. Re: Questions on sewing arming/lacing points
Hi Charlotte, lots of great help there, thanks for the input! My harness is based on examples from 1459, give or take a couple of years, in the proto gothic style of Germany. I haven't made any laces/chappes yet. I'm sort of dreading making chappes. I will have to though. I think I'll have to make a...

Questions on sewing arming/lacing points
I have started the unenviable task of sewing lacing and arming points onto my 15thC arming/general doublet. I marked the locations of the points just to close up the front, and to my surprise found that there will be 45 points to do. Just to close the front up. I feel I need an apprentice. Anyway, I...

Re: Rectangular tent...a work in progress.
If not the idea of a separate canvas holder, then at least I would try to put the barrel of the roll of canvas situated over the legs. This would make the table less inclined to want to tip over when someone comes along to watch what you're doing and invariably leans with one elbow on the canvas rol...

Thanks for the pics Mac. I didn't mean to pester or nag...I was just curious.
I was surprised to see how many rectangular tents there are. Even in images I had seen before, my eye had been drawn to the round pavillions before.

Very nice. Thanks for that. To compare notes, here are the patterns I had drafted but not tested, a few years ago. This is the 'blank' I tried to pattern to look like Pat Thaden's pauldrons. Dave, Bows?!...Really?! I am always a bit behind on this newfangled stuff. Is there any problem with the laminations "creeping"? What is the life expectancy of urethane glue? Giles, In my experience, plaster is really the best thing for greaves. About 10-15 minutes, I believe, and it's solid in 4-8 hours, but you can unclamp after 2. I have recently adopted it for my bowmaking. the archive is getting spammed a lot lately.
I'd like to see pics of as many of the pauldrons as possible. But additionally, if possible, I'd like to see the patterns that they were made from so I can get an idea as to what 2D shape influences the final 3D shape.
