Re: Opinions on a Strapped Shield hand being used....

The title of the post asked for opinions so here's mine: If the shield hand is holding a weapon then it seems to me that the shield on the arm is just a badly fitting vambrace with an unconventional shape. And if the weapon being held onto by the shield hand is also in the opponent's hand ? Same op...

A counterpoint on the Armored Rose

m Preview: I totally discount sword foot forward as a reasonable style choice for women. Unrelated to the Rose: I disdain the idea that it is important for any given fighter to put time into practicing more than one stance. It is too big a bite to take. Suggesting there is only one answer to this is very limiting. There are fighters I need to fight carefully and defensively. There are fighters I need to fight by pressing and wide open offense. There are times where I only have enough energy left to wait for my opponent to make an error. Then there ...

My main wishes for any scenario planner: Consider what is actually fun. No one likes having to knee walk. Hauling bales while fighting is not fun. Re: Opinions on a Strapped Shield hand being used....

I use a gauntlet and a strapped handle. I also fight with an open style. Now and then, righty me vs. righty them, someone with a basket hilt attached with a tab on the pommel has ended up with their sword inside my shield. (don't ask me why they didn't just hit me.) If their pommel gets close to my ...

don't quote me 'cause I'm too lazy to go look in Atlantia's rules (which are online, so YOU can look them up) but as I recall, with just a week expired, you just need to pay for new cards, not reauthorize.

I don't think I have ever, in the midst of an engagement with an opponent, felt pulling a dagger was wise, nor had one used on me successfully. I think we're missing something in this discussion. I might be wrong, because I don't really understand the physics of the sweet spot. My wrist goes all over the place.

Bedfords only throw extended flat snaps by accident. Their normal flat snaps are crossing snaps, and yes, from what I can tell, they keep their wrists straight.

Notably, my friend Duke Alaric does not. 8)

Make them BLACK.

Personally, I could go for plastic cross hilts because I'm constantly shocked at the high price of metal ones.

On the other hand, I like a heavy pommel, so I wouldn't want a plastic one of those.

Since we're pre-ordering pieces you haven't ordered yet from your supplier, is there any chance of non-standard/custom sizing?

I'm 6'3, 200 lbs, so a haubergeon that's longer than a large & narrower than an XL would be awesome.

Anyone I know and trust, if you're considering buying any of this, please get in touch with me about combining an order. $330 off a haubergeon is very attractive if I can find people interesting in ordering 3 other pieces! Probably best to keep this to people relatively local, considering delivery.
