Boats

I've been in a few boat battles, and seen more, and being from Atlantia, a sea kingdom, I've thought about how to run them a lot. Here's the thing: Fighters want to fight. They don't want to build stuff. Especially not in armor. Fighting on boats takes place once the boats are next to each other . S...

In any case, good for you for abandoning cHeaters! The sound of those bare aluminum shields getting hit always reminds me of drunks throwing trash cans at each other in an alley. By the way, my shield is 7/8th thick, rounded, fiberglassed & covered with canvas. I'm pretty sure it takes less out ...

Anybody I haven't fought before. And what William said. Guys taller than me are a bane that I don't get enough exposure to. Tonight it was fun approaching a very strong fighter who I think is max 5'6" by making sure I keep my head lower than his. He had no idea what to do in that situation!

I don't fight sword & shield in a melee, but I've never seen anyone with a shield join a line and have the opposing line immediately take 3 or 4 steps back.

I love it when I join my line with a spear and watch those facing me do so.

I occasionally take them, depending on how hard the final impact and where it lands. But for the most part, blocked is blocked. I disagree with this strenuously. If a block is insufficient to stop killing force from reaching a target, it was an insufficient block. Especially nowadays, with the infe...

I had never thought about this until I saw the question. But I believe I would call them "leg bruises." Seriously, though: I imagine their use in period was to assist in blocking the head after leg defense became good enough that you pretty much couldn't hurt someone through it. Heads bein...

Ummm, what?

Randy, the offer was to the original poster. Do you plan to buy the mongolian armor?

As the guy above me mentions, I'm rather confused about the cost of disassembly. Especially since it seems very likely that anyone buying the mongol suit would need to disassemble it for their own use.

second hand dibs

So, if you go for the mongolian suit and disassemble it for the plates, I will take the unused excess plates off your hands for a fee in the same range as the % of their cost to you. In other words, I'm willing to buy what you don't need, but note that you are taking the risk buying from overseas. (...

One caveat

It is not unusual to see a speed format used for the early rounds of a tourney, then switched to a standard double elim when the number of fighters has been reduced to a perfect multiple of 8.

Usually 16.

So the format shifts at the round before the quarter finals.

Does Atlantia consider that authorizing sword/shield to be different from say mace/shield? No. Nor Axe. Nor spear & shield for that matter, though to the best of my knowledge, there are literally no spear and shield fighters in Atlantia. Madus, if they were legal, would be part of a two sword a...

I'm still amazed that there aren't specific authorizations for each form in every kingdom. Here in Atlantia, it is easy to get a sword & shield authorization. That standard is "safety." As it is much much easier both to be injured an to injure another with any other form, our authoriza...
