We offer highly authentic wedge riveted maille. It is made of unplated low carbon steel, similar to the originals. The rings are fully flattened 18GA wire, with a 3/8" ID. A 3/4 sleeved shirt weighs a mere 18 pounds. Forth A...

The helm is sweet - I love the brasswork. Looks like your little doo-hicky dead-center at the top of the face opening doesn't exactly match the profile of the face opening, though. Shouldn't be able to see it with the visor in place though. Steve ------------------ Forth Armoury The Riveted Maille W...

Wow, Clay, that's really, really good stuff! The only criticism I would have, and it is very small, is that I would dress up the wings a bit - they seem a little plain to me. Some flutes or something would look cool. But nonetheless, they are awesome legs! Steve ------------------ Forth Armoury The ...

"Thus, it would (theoretically, I don't have any numbers -- Steve, are you out there?) take less force to move period chain." Yes, riveted maille, generally, is less massive than butted, and thus it takes much less force to move it. However, the question is if you strike loose maille should you cal...

Nope - it's pretty much a bitch of a job no matter what - part of taking care of armour, I guess. You can speed things along sometimes with various mechanical polishers (ala dremel tool) but usually it's more mess and hassle than it's worth (dremel tends to sling polishing media everywhere). Basical...

I don't know about aluminum maille, but my steel maille I polish by tumbling in a dryer. I went to a used appliance store and bought an old Maytag gas dryer for $100. You want gas because 1) It only requires a standard 110V outlet to run the tumbling part and 2) If it's not hooked up to gas it won't...
