You've made the center of your bucklers mighty thin, unless you started with very thick stuff. Working from the edge to the center takes care of the wrinkles. It also tends not to thin the center to a casually measurable degree.
quote:
<font...

Sounds like Harold was using a "doming" hammer. Harold, your normal method isn't dishing, since you're not using anything that could be remotely described as a dish. You might call it sinking, but I don't think its really sinking either...it's basically just beating the shit out of your piece, and i...

Keep up with the group, Morgan. Interposing an non-target area [and, yes, your hands are a nontarget area, even enclosed in a basket] to block a shot is against the rules. Yup, vinegar works. Yup, muriatic acid works faster. Yup, it's mill scale, and it's on hot rolled steel. Better to remove the scale from pieces you're done shaping, before polishing, and leave it on your stock in the shop. The scale is mildly rust-resistant. ------------------ Gundobad, Wise Ogre...

I don't usually bother with a cutting oil, but it's not incorrect by any means. If you want even more success, keep your drill rpm slow enough that you can see the flutes of the drill bit [not blurred out by speed]. Actually, it's not. It's against the rules to target your hands, and I'd bet money no one has done so. I'd also bet money that strikes on your hands have occurred because you put your hands in the way of blows aimed elsewhere, rather than poor aim on your opponenent's part.
<font size="1...
