Hal, you should make boots like this in stainless or Aluminum and sell them to your local Goth/Fetish scenes. You would not believe how some of these people will pay for ludcously easy stuff. Just last month I had a gothic girl pay me 90€ for an hour of work and 10€ in material (custom f...

Starting Gauntlets for SCA combat

As my kit is nearing completion (some really good people will breath a sigh of relief when it's done) there is another question I feel I have to ask, as it has come up for both me and some other new fighters i am helping: What would you consider to be good gauntlets for a SCA new fighter, and especi...

Sir Alfred is right of course. Getting too excited about what an illustration in a book proves or supports is a little silly, especially if you were to say, a thousand years from now try to re-enact the twentieth century based on illustrations in, say, comic books. Jehan, squire of Sir Vitus Like t...

I am a knight in two other societies. When I came here I was not in the SCA. When I posted about maybe wanting to join the SCA I dared to say that I would like to portray a squire and maybe some day a Knight. I did not know any better. Boy was I flamed by some people. But I stayed in any case. I may...

For sale or trade: really really old and gorgeous fustian

With a heavy heart I have decided to part with a beloved piece of fabric. It is an old hand loom fustian in herringbone. I got this from a nice old lady whose great grandmother (who was the last in the family to make her own fabric) made this. The great grandmother died in 1916, so the fabric is at ...

Thanks Adam! Everybody, Here are a few more ideas: 1.Even though this will be in Germany, I think we should require voluntary participation by the merchants/craftsmen. This way nobody could scream about his name being slandered. 2.The merchants should encourage their customers to use this system. As...

This type of site works great with some hardware search engines and consumer goods portals. I woul need help with the code and such though.

Hal,

you may want to look into USPS shipping for the International orders. You will have to in any case for APO shipping I presume. US Postal is far less expensive on the Intewrnational shipping.

There is a rate calculator here:

I usually use a good leather care oil, Ballistol. It gets rid of the sticky residue and gives the leather a nice shimmer.

Note: Do not use on non-smooth leathers.

I cannot seem to find them on harborfreight.com, do you have an item number?

The other problem is that they only ship UPS AFAIK, and that kills me on shipping to Germany. Now with someone on the AA one can usually make a deal...:)

Seth,

they are somewhere around the metric eqivalent of 18 gauge. there is lots of overlap and fluting for extra strength.

If I remember correctly 1 pair weighs around 4 pounds boxed.
