I am considering bringing my video camera and having one of my fellows film the proceedings for me. If we want to coordinate and have a few cameras covering the field, I could be up for it. If not, then their orders will be to keep me in their sights as I am a vain man.

Love the addition of the painting. Makes it feel like a real home.

What's a good house warming gift for the guy that can either make it, or has it? I just wouldn't feel right stopping by to see this house w/out bringing a house warming gift.

James River Armoury is ARMOURER ERIC here on the archive. You can find a recent status update from him here in the Classifieds section.

In a nutshell, he's a very talented armourer, but has suffered some health issues recently. Otherwise he's very reliable.

Good Sir,

Just to be clear, do the poles still have skin on the front and backs of the poles?

It's been my experience that poleaxes w/ no skin on the front of the haft get chewed up pretty quick.

Thanks for your review.

YIS,

If I may ask, would it be possible if you could define what about the overall result you find unrefined and a bit sloppy?

The shaping of the greaves?
The applique decoration?
The materials used?

Just curious.

Polearm profiles?

I have this vague memory that someone once posted a graphic / chart that had a bunch of different polearm head profiles, but I can't find it now. It also included the relative length of ea. weapon. Anybody have any idea where such a thing could be found?

w/ thanks.

Sounds like a lot of fun. What is your kingdom's currency used for? This is a single day event? One of the Days activities or the entire days fighting? Are there any guidelines in place that would allow non-combatants to involve themselves? Say someone pays the entry fee for one or more combatants ...

The Kingdom of Acre / MSR usu. fields about 10 fighters at Pennsic & 20 at our local war event. Our belt/unbelt ratio can be anywhere from 25%/75% to 50%/50%. Lately at Pennsic, we've been joining up w/ Usterblichen.

Which brings up the question again, is Pennsic an SCA event, or a Cooper's event? If it's an SCA event, I could potentially see problems w/ outside groups that don't conform to the Society standards.

Personally, I hope it doesn't fall that way as I'd miss their presence on the field.

If I may add the perspective of someone who started out in a group that has slightly more stringent armour standards than the SCA (no plastic allowed, greaves a must, armour as worn, etc).
