Yeah, I was thinking of your pic, Greg. How wide and deep is the helve? Albion has discontinued that, haven't they? (They also discontinued their large skeggox! Humph! ) I'm hoping to make several axes this summer. I just might have to do one of those. ...along with the chinese grinning axe, Cairn B...

Um, no. Tell that to Auld Dawg or the boys over at swordforum who did the cutting. I cut steel and aluminum cans all the time. I cut water-filled coffie cans occasionaly without any incident. I carve steel with a sharp chisel, and I've shaved iron with my pocket knife. I've never cut a steel barrel,...

Are all beer kegs created equal? IIRC, they're pretty damn light when they're empty. How thick could they be? 20 guage, tops? Is that so impossible? I'm also thinking it would be easier to cut it when it was full , or at least pressurised. AT1435 vs 55 gal barrel There's one, and the barrel did get ...

You cant cut steel with any sword EVER! Okay, THAT is taking it too far. Remember the pictures ATrim took of him cutting into that a 55 gallon drum? the Drum was pretty damned cut up by the time they were through with it. All you have to do is start shearing. Too much work, though. Easier and surer...

halfswording? :?

We're walking backwards. We should be experementing with flails again, synthetic materiels, laminated rattan weapons, rubber weapons... anything to further improve the look and authenticity of our combat.
all the real work is going on in perifrial orgs.

Actually, I do believe you're wrong about that. The chivalric class, especialy in the 13th and 14th centuries, took a very lighthearted view of personal injury. A man who lost an eye in a fight would very likely personally congratulate the knight who bested him. So yes, if a knight was stupid enough...
