I need some help with identifying a hat and cote

Hi all, In Phoebus' Book of the Hunt I found this image of a huntsman. This particular manuscript is dated circa 1410. I think that the cote is a houpeland variant, but I am not positive. What I am most interested in is the hat....

I think that there might be a little confusion becouse in the title of the first post, Sir Vitus uses the word hurt. Within the text of the question, the word injure is used. Within the context of the contests that we engage in, we are trying to "hurt" each other. We cause physical discomfort and ac...

I am very pleased that Sir Garreth recieves such high praise. His product is one of the best gambesons directed at S.C.A. fighting. A dagger is much lighter and can be easily laced to the plaque belt or the jupon, not needing a sturdier belt beneath, like in your viable theory, Gethin. -Tasha Why thank you! Gilbert did say "According to SCA organization policies: "All persons are assumed to be of noble lineage." Now.. how that person actually dresses themselves is up to them. I recently had a theory pop into my head concerning hip/plaque belts. As seen in these two images Insde view sword sitting on hip The sword belt is underneath and passes through slits in the jupon (term used as found on the site) and the scabbard sits at the hip. What if there was also slits for the...

Hi, I would say that they look nice. Basic shape is good and you put a very nice finish on them. The creasing on the metacarpal looks a tad odd to me. Note another historically-based option is that you can wear a sword belt ---AND--- a plaque belt. The sword belt goes around the real waist (and carries the sword) and the plaque belt goes about the hips (and carries the dagger). I recently had a theory pop into my head concerning this. As seen in ...
