I assume you refer to Henry VIII's tonlet armor, but the tonlet was actually not that uncommon for foot, siege and tournament combat. Still looks goofy though

L The things that I think they could improve on the most to improve thier look without much cost or effort are the faulds and tasset, the modern tshirts and sports logos on elbows, modern shoes and shorts. Re: Vito's Minions Roman HDPE Roman Lorica Segmentata
I'll be honest, you just don't have a remotely period outline, and look more like generic space marines to my eye. Just some simple suggestions, (assuming that you are going for a roman look, as I surmise) 1:Ditch the T-shirts and wear a proper roman style tunic. You can get them in most colors for ...

Guy in my old barony has a pair and I used them a few times. They work well with felted wool padding, but he had to replace all of the leather with paracord eventually.

Re: My new toy
In the state of VA, you can walk around with any bladed weapon openly, as long as there is no chance of it being obstructed. You can walk around mundanely with a calvary saber if you wanted, just be ready to get the occasional question from local cops.

What about wearing a placard without an upper? I've seen artwork depicting period harness with a "floating" placard for lack of a better term, but its all modern historical art... Any proof of this?

Kilian, I'm not sure where you're coming from, unless if modern engineering is your only interest in this matter. *snip* The second image is from my friend Jeroen's site, and is of four early bronze age European swords that lack tangs completely - the blades end exactly where the rivets are as they...

While the tang itself is not 100% correct, I prefer it as a matter of modern engineering that would not bee seen, and makes it stronger with maintaining the period lines. http://th06.deviantart.net/fs9/PRE/i/2006/063/f/9/Celtic_Bronze_sword_by_NecktieRebel.jpg Most of the ancient world used this des...

Kilian, Been doing a little digging around and made a phone call or two in the past couple of days. You make a good argument and I concede to all points, but the sash/turban (also commonly seen on generic Turks to my recollection) thing still just looks very "tacked on" and to my untrained eye, they majority of the clothing looks in period to me.
