Having had Amos crack me in the unarmored everything (I typically wear bare min armor), I can say that it has sting, and authority, but this weird "dead" quality that you can certainly tell apart from rattan.

Re: Celata, legs, elbows, and breastplate
Your friend needs to be a scrawny guy or woman under 200 pounds for these elbows to fit. I don't really undertstand the Stonekeep thing. Won't that just give you the measurement of my arm with whatever elbow pad I am wearing? Does a straight across measurement help? If so, http://i923.photobucket.c...

Any possibility of getting a measurement on the elbows ala Stonekeep's system? http://spiers-saddlery.stores.yahoo.net/elbows.html

Is that a reproduction or an actual historical piece? Whatever it is it looks nasty! That is an original sir, and was dated to the later 1680's if I recall correctly. Re: Talk to me about Pennsic!
Not to derail, but care to expand? As you may be aware, at long events like SCA wars people often are forced to make a trip to the nearest town to resupply. These trips are known as "town runs" or "ice runs" if that's what they're after. Many people with too great an attachment to Pennsic will refe...

Re: Help identify an instrument
Each opening in the bladded has fixed reeds, facing either direction, vibrating like individual sonal tubes or very short chanter pipes. The button mechanism holds the apetures (sp?) of the bladder at each reed shut, unless depressed, allowing air flow. Not nearly as efficient as a true accordian, b...

Re: Help identify an instrument
I'll have to get my camera, but its really quite interesting. It functions like a cross between a concertina and an air bladder reed pipe (like bagpipes) that has a manual air draw through pulling (thus expanding, and drawing air over un-squeezed reed chambers for a note) and squeezing. Modern Accor...

Mac, AccordiLON, not accordion. Think smaller, much much simpler, and can be traced back to the VERY late 17th to mid 18th centuries. Modernly known as an Arcadian or Cajun squeeze box. Its pushing the period, but sounds good. Robert, you are making this even better! I really should have sprung for ...

Hey folks. Seeing as my current state of affairs leaves me with nothing but time, i've been working on making a few projects, and have come to one that has been a curiosity to me for a while.
