Get some sealing wax. Michael's JoAnn's etc. should have it, or you can find it online. http://www.letterseals.com/sealing-wax.html
Crayons, candles, etc. are going to put a big grease spot in your paper. If you want to do it right, do it right.

I have the ringmail bracers and greaves and they're not only good looking and comfortable but thick...I don't know if they're SCA legal Considering that neither bracers nor greaves are required armor*, there is no such thing as illegal bracers or greaves as long as the don't have >1/2" protrus...

I'm not a huge fan of multiple open fields in a row, or battles where the only two roles are spearman and eventual corpse.

Look at Byzantine iconography. Chock full of tombstones. Seems like a safe bet for Varangian. At least that was the rationale I used when I bought mine.

Yeah, but just at a guess, they didn't take a jet to Oklahoma. They had to travel through some places to get there. Definitely could have been Templars. Probably when they were hiding the tablets for Joseph Smith to find.

Yeah, sure, if you happen to be one of the poofy late period fops. Then again, they could have been brought back by the carvers of the Heavener runestone.

I've done the knee brace as the padding thing before and it worked mostly fine. The only issue that I had with it was that the edges of the cops would dig into me if I was on my knees.

Looking at the hole they person is standing in, it could be a grave find. If you find an adult female skeleton with a skirt wrapped around it, it would be safe to assume that it's a woman's skirt. I wish they showed a picture of it instead of people looking at it.

Baskets look a-freaking-mazing with an early period kit. If they'd have had them they'd have used them. No way to improve the appearance over a good basket. What size are your hands and would you like to trade a basket for your gauntlets?

Re: Future of SCA fighting
What needs to happen NOW is a change to a true democratic rule. The SCA should make a forum. Only paying members get to register on it. Anyone can make a poll on a new/old policy/rule. If, after a year, if 75% of the votes go one way then it gets made into an official rule. That will help steer the...

You might try calling the police in Alexandria, VA. For that matter, it wouldn't hurt anything at all to call the FBI and ask. They might blow you off, but they might not. Worst case, you are out a few minutes of time and a couple of phone calls.

In tournaments only. At practices and wars it is encouraged I'm with Sir Patrick, it's a killing move and not for tourneys. Same goes for two handed weapons. Let's say you land a thrust on your knight one practice. Does that automatically mean his defense is cheesy and weak or was it just a lucky blow or is just him erring on the side of honor so his reputation stays clean? Or maybe it was good. I think that the confusion keeps coming up because while y...
