Aidan beat me to it, but the shields Sir Kaz are making are well made and very durable. The ones he has made for his and others' use for been canvas covered so I'm sure you can work that out with him.

Here's a pic of Sir Zighmun rocking some. I think they are a pretty cool way to add to appearance, and show personal heraldry. I'm not sure how accurate they are for one of the religious orders. Also, from what I have read on them, they were in use for a fairly short period of time in the vary late ...

Aaron, Once again you are talking shit about something that you don't know about. You have decided that you dislike Estrella because of a few forums posts. You have decided that Gulf Wars is all that should be right with the SCA because of a few forum posts. That's all cool. After Gulf Wars, someone...

if you cannot tell where a body part (in this specific case, a knee) is located by just by looking at your opponent..you need to badly start practicing on a pell until you can do it in your sleep...basic anatomy dictates where the damn knee is at..you don't need a road map..you need practice at hit...

But is it Art?
Yes it is. Congratulations to the new heirs of Atenveldt Prince Arthur O'Flaherty and his Princess Gabriela de Bordeaux.

But I expect ANY Marshal to question fighters when they see a blow that looks low accompanied with a fighter exclaiming in pain and bending over. Especially when the attacker in question has a history of complaints filed for throwing low blows. I also EXPECT Marshals to warn fighters when they see ...

Re: Fighter ID help from Estrella
Smaller than standard so I'm guessing the first step for the armor would be a mall parking lot stop sign.Halbrust wrote:On the right. The armor and helm have me drooling!

Oddly enough, in the West *intentionally* targeting the groin (not arm, btw) is expressly forbidden in the rules as violation of rule 6. Not according to the Marshal's Handbook. 16. It is considered discourteous and dangerous to intentionally target the groin area. If such blows are thrown repeated...

Gulf Wars numbers around 3,500+ people, Pennsic around 10,500+, Lillies war has? and then we have Estrella war that used to get 8 or 9 thousand and just had 3,200. I think the problem just might be yours, not ours. And what about GWW ? Thor- Seems like the kind of comment that could come back to bi...

This it what it should look like. Norman Helm . I don't know this guy personally or anything, just the first good pic that came up in google after typing in Norman Helm. Actually, if we want to get all nit-picky and stuff, since the helmet you posted is a reproduction (or is at least inspired by) t...

Depends on your fighting style. Most modern sport fighters take large steps which will cause you to slip, historical manuals tell you to take short steps for a reason :D I hear this stated fairly regularly, but it seems like every illustration I see from fechtbooks has at least one of the people in...

From what I understand from people who were heavily involved with site at the time, the biggest problem with Estrella Mountain Park wasn't the size, although that was an issue, but maintenance. They were refusing to do not only site improvements, but site repairs, while expecting us to pay more and ...

Last year I heard 4200. Ten years ago it was 6900 paid through the gate. I know at our max we were around 8. I went to the first 2 years at the Florence site. Are there any plans on moving to a new/old site? I can neither confirm nor deny anything about a new/old site for next year, but you might w...
