This thread became awesome when people started getting out the "ruler" about fake/play fighting. EVERYTHING about the SCA (and indeed most hobbies) is fake. All the titles, tourney wins, and any other dick measuring activities we use mean absolutely nothing in the real world. Its the folk...

Mongrel isn't a member of the US army. Whoever Mongrel is when he isn't here or in armor undoubtedly is and most likely knows the distinction you mention. Mongrel is Tuchux and also knows how to act in that role.

My interpretation at any rate, I could be dead wrong, never met the guy.

FWIW, When I mentioned camping, I meant walk all day build a fire if possible, or not. Eat some food we carried on us. Sleep wrapped in a cloak. Get up the next day, eat, walk some more. I wasn't suggesting changing the purpose, or the venue, just lengthening and possibly enhancing the experience.

We should do 8 miles if we do it next year, Malcolm. Of course, I was wearing a robe, not armour, so maybe I had it a bit easy. If you do this again next year, give some people some notice. That looks fun. so this got way more attention than i had ever thought. i am planning on doing it again. i wa...

It's your criteria and I'm not questioning it but I think it's interesting that you would consider a person who puts on his armor 6 times in almost a year to be more active than a person who puts their armor on weekly and teaches at fighter practices but doesn't like tournament fighting, especially ...
