There may or may not be isn't any? Close enough for you? I assume that by period Norse you mean pre-mid-eleventh century Norse and are just avoiding VA. It just occurred to me that with these you could wear demis and it. I fight with a gauntlet on my sword hand so when I get armed it's a PITA, to toss my shield, put my other gauntlet on and switch my sword. With this I could just switch the sword and the buckler.

I would say don't get galvanized and don't galvanize it. Galvanized steel doesn't look like armor to me. I've seen steel recommended more then once, and it'll be painted, but what do you recommend? Steel by all means is fine, it the galvanized I don't like. Even painted it will give you a rough fin...

I responded but in keeping it short enough that attention spans don't factor in, there's too much gray area IMO. I have some chronic stuff that I think SCA probably played a factor in, some that predate SCA fighting for me but that SCA fighting aggrevates and some that SCA actually helps keep better.
