Re: Looking for etching mask.
Hello, Can anyone direct me to the supplier of the stuff you print on then use to mask metal for etching. I am ready to try the saltwater/battery etching technique. I wanted to do something detail and my sharpie marker is not working. Thank you. Hal have you thought about dykem/dychem however it's ...

Perhaps this has been pointed out and I missed it, but has anyone considered that you do not need to strap and unstrap cuisses to don and doff them? Could not the laces be just an adjustment and there was no need to lace or unlace them once they where fit. To your knowledge, in period did they poin...

(garb)what are good periods& patterns for nursing women
I saw some of the stuff posted in the 16thC kirtle thread& saw some links to www.reconstructinghistory.com. & I got to wondering since my wife hasn't settled on a particular time/local what would be good for a nursing mother. & what provisions did they make in period since similac wasn't...

Re: anybody still sell full leather arms?
I'll describe these as best I can - a long time ago I had (subsequently sold) a set of full leather arms. Think of a regular set of leather arms with steel elbows, then add articulated lames all the way up the shoulder, with a strap that buckled under the opposite armpit. Anybody still make those? ...

. . . [T]he side of the helm is considered proof [against thrusts] in the East. It is in Atlantia too. I knew it was somewhere, my point is that I am acquainted with someone who thinks that all east coasters are a bunch of thick thugs.....all because they were ignorant of the culture of the east co...

Josh, No need to delete the post -- I think the core of your concern led to a number of good discusion points. And I was greatly encouraged by the number of people who realize now that ancient stereotypes aren't worth the brain matter they occupy. Sean, yes. it's me. And I look forward to seeing yo...

Thank you Sha-ul, it was a fun project to do. Do you think $150.00 would be a starting point for an auction on the classifieds? I have never sold a dagger before. I have no idea what they are worth. I just know I spent about 12 hours building it. I guess if anything it would make a cool tent stake....

Hey, I finally found an OK pic of my current kit! I'm the guy in green in the back... In the next few months, I'll be replacing the boots (masked to look like period shoes) with something more of a period profile (not a ankle boot). I'll also make a new sword and add a scabbard. http://i155.photobu...

That went very well. Mongrel Slimedog is a fine fellow. He's a lot younger than I expected. He's fast, strong, in good shape, and worse yet--a lefty . His enthusiasm for the game is infectious, though, and was just what I've been needing to get my kit back together and drag my tired, lazy ass back ...

my eyes are playing tricks with me today, it almost looked like tulip poplar
look again, the knots are a clear indicator of pine.
very nice table.
I saw the knots, but also noticed the greenish cast of the shelf, which made wonder about if it might be poplar

Re: Bollycocks
Thought you might want to see some progress on my bollocks dagger. I was thinking of welding the 1" steel balls in place. Make the handles from oak slabs and rivet them on with 1/4" pins. Peen the pomel plate in position. Ya think that will work? Oh I should heat treat the virgin automoti...
