You should be able to find a decent anvil for about $1/pound or less. I dunno if I'd agree with that so much. Everything else is more expensive than it was last year, and the year before, and there's no reason anvils shouldn't be the same way. Especialy if you cinsider that the supply is dwindling....

on my kote for my japanese rig I used 2024-t3... but the temper was messed up or something, so they need continual reforming, but hey, since I use it for loaner armor or Ren Fairs (ironic isnt it) its no big deal. I would suggest for armor bits about a 6061-t6 about .080 thick, so that you can stil...

I wanted to bump this thread up again, as we're less than a month away from the event. We have a gorgeous site near Olympia, WA, to play in, with 100 acres of woods and pastureland for pikes, shotte and horse maneuver around in. Plus of course our camp will be next to a beautiful stream. Here are a...

I rarely get any pictures of my kit recently, but here are some images we got at our 10th Anniversay presentation at the Higgins. - including some rare ones with me buttoned up, because I never wear my visor down unless we are being shot at with arrows at reenactments (and sometimes not then). The ...

Sir Tanaka's info on the SCA version of the Chinese crossbow with SCA bolts was that it only had an effective range of about 10 yards, making it useless for realistic combat recreations. Richard Blackmoore Yeah I remember his post. Mathematicly it dosn't make sense. It should have the same effectiv...

Picked and carded, yes. Just picked... don't have the time to do all that by hand, what with other projects. what would it be worth as roving ready to felt? Roving is a bit more of a pain in the butt than carded, obviously: and you're dead on, I need it for felt-making. 8 is what I normally pay, to...
