ayup, that indeed it is.
based upon the reading I've done I reckon it should have the dent resistance of 16g mild.

although if I were to attempt welding it I bet I'd have to have a tig. with very good amperage control.

the stuff I had last fall was 0.040,& 0.050 this is 0.025 so you could make some feather weight stuff

Something like the piece you describe was used to defend the inside of the elbow joint on one of Henry VIII ths armour. There is a pic of one in TOMAR.
