Tell him I am looking for a Apple Portrait Display if you can. Them things are hard to find. Theyre not especially good monitors, and of course being CRTs theyre stupidly heavy in comparison with LCDs, but they work well with old Macs because they can display a full page all at once, thus minimizin...

Re: WTB: Apple Portrait Display

Back in "tha day" Apple put out a Portrait Display Monitor for Macintosh computers. The screen is the size of a sheet of paper, taller than it is wide. I am setting up a vintage Mac IIci and I would like to kit it out with one of these. If you run across one that you'd like to turn into c...

that is a MIG, what you would need for stainless is TIG

I have used Kasenit compound for small industrial pieces. Personally, I do not think this process is suited for armour. The piece must be brought up to red hot and submerged and rolled in the compound. The compound melts to the metal then a water quench. Getting the coating to cover a helm would re...

if I understand the question from the OP correctly, yes The gauntlets pictured would be fine WITH A BASKET HILT though about doing the same myself. however, they would not protect enough for great weapons. for that I would recommend good mitten gauntlets.

no, and from the shape of the puddle, it looks like he had the amperage turned up a bit. it was probably welded with 6011 or it's precursor, but it didn't penetrate the flat stock at all.

I need to take some pics sometime.

just got this for making a tool out of, it is a giant ball joint. the hardened steel ball is about 9" in diameter and in quite good condition, the taper is a bit rougher and as the ball is flat on top I will make a cradle for it to sit in on its side like it is now [img]http://img.photobucket....

I've cut up several tons of real wrought iron plate with a cutting torch and it was quite amusing. So I was cutting at the cold formed folds trying to save max flat sheet. ...
