Kaos gave good advice, I'd wait a bit and save more money. It may take up to a year to get one made anyway from the time you order. That would give you more time to save a bit more.

I've got a book "Mediaeval Arms and armour" That has a different pic of that harness, showing it with spalders and a single besagew. The caption says its a composite suit made up from parts dating to 1390- 1415. I think a basinet would go well with it. Maybe even a great basinet.

Needless to say, Jeffery makes some high quality stuff! My late 14th century harness was made by him, everything but the gauntlets. Great lines, darn near indestructable. If anyone has the $$$ and needs the armour, and the pieces are in the right size, I'd say go for it while the gettins good! In st...

Hi Tom, Jiri added the extra plates for the fingertips. I've sewn in the gloves, I'll take a few pics today. The fingertips are riveted to a piece of leather thats also riveted to the last lame. It extends just a bit past and around the fingertips. The gloves are sewn into this.

On the weight part, I had a full harness head to toe out of 14-16 gauge mild. it weighed 85 lb. with no mail added but the aventail. I replaced it with mainly 19 gauge spring ( except the helmet) and added a riveted hauberk, the new armour weighs about 55 lb, and 18lb of that is mail! I've owned a f...

Sean brought up a good point, the noiseiest parts are pauldrons, tassets and the bottom "gorget?"( I dont think thats the right term for the piece I'm thinking of) plate on the close helm. In the 16th cent these pieces were often lined (not padded though) around the edges with a "pica...

There is no way to make something like that work.Make a fist, look at your fingers from the side. You'll see what I mean. There is no room for the middle joint of the finger to have a plate under it. Now if you had no need to hold anything in your hand, it would be fine.

Incorrect assumption. The closest thing to any padding, under complete plate articulated legs, is the 'bulwarks' around the knees, which is merely a piece of blanket, wrapped as a towel, and held in place by the poleyn strap. Plate armour does not need padding under it if it is made right, 'gambeso...
