William Fagan used to be a good source for bits and pieces, 20-25 years ago he usedto have 16th cent eblow cops for $40-50. Halves of vambraces for 30-35. Whole vambraces for about 50-70. Pauldrons and spaulders for $100-150. Cabasetts for $350 ect. His prices are Sky high now. Ahh the good old days...

I looked at the site, and the wedge rivet coif is about 3 1/2" longer. the extra length is in the bottom edge( biggest diameter) making alot more rings. ...Otto

Forgot to add, I've got a 48"chest. Its a little snug on me when I have it fully closed without gaps on the side or front. Thats COOOOL ! Are the check plates hinged on the skull of the helm? Like on an armet? Love the sweep of the neck in the profile pic. Love the fluted brow reinforce. Very interesting design. Like nothing I've ever seen, yet it looks like something plausable from about 1500 ....Otto

Looks like a Great Basinet with a side mount roundnose visor. Might be considered a bit old fashioned by 1460.I think these were most common in the 1st quarter of the 15th cent ....Otto

I would have thought the 300 lb crossbow at point blank would have pierced the mail for sure,And I would have thought a good chance for peretration on the backplate with a good square hit at the right angle. check out the my harness thread above for one good example of a very well done repro suit for starters. Any book on armour should have some good pics of late 15th century stuff..The English often used Italian armour made with a blend of Italian and Germanic features...Otto
