Great to see you here Aaron! Hope you are doing well. Ive Got to tell you this. I always wanted to commision a harness from you and Wade, but I kept putting it off,and putting it off untill I could afford it. I waited a bit to long and you fellows retired. I still have a couple of the old Valerius ca...

from Brennus"I think the real difference is that SCA encourages private events away from the general public. Yes I know SCA does Demos, but events are where the real energy is focused. If for instance Pennsic was for the public to show up for 30+ years then people would probably look better. At leas...

Malegwyn said "Or maybe most people just prefer real fighting with fake weapons over fake fighting with real weapons, or real fighting with real weapons causing real injuries?" I've got to disagree somewhat with this. SCA is full speed, but not full force. When I fight SCA, I have to pull blows becau...

I know this isnt correct (unless they had belt loops in the late 14th century). But I'm going to try pointing my leg harness to a pair of sturdy shorts.Using them as braies, and pointing the hosen to them as well. I can use a belt to keep the shorts from falling down, and they wont really be visable un...

Tournament in London Ontario?
Dang, we lost the thread! I was wondering how many people took part in the Tourney? Who won? How many heavy and light armour runs where made? So many questions! Thanks,...Otto

I think this is a GREAT idea. And I'd like to see it spread throughout the SCA. It probably will. I think when people see what Can be done with a little effort, more folks will jump on the "bandwagon". I also think Vitus is on the right track with Kingdom awards for obvious effort on period kit.I wi...

So, I got thicker steel to boot at no extra charge! Thanks again,Jeffery, you went above and beyond the call of duty.Sounds like this stuff will be incredibly strong. Even the slightly thiner gauge spring steel would probably be as strong as 14 gauge. This is the closest material you can get to the o...

ahhhhhhh, the legs are pictured under Leg harness eye candy post on an earlier thread. Also I wanted to mention that I was a little concerned about the thickness of the spring steel.I never did inquire about this to Jeffery. On Jefferys website,he gave the thickness in decimals of thickness of an in...

People were the same hieght back then as now. Italians were shorter for the most part, norwegians taller. I dont think the average between then and 1000 years ago would be more than an a 1/2 inch difference if that.I believe the average height for Cro Magnon man was over 6'-0".And they had a larger ...

I think rebated steel is pretty safe,as long as the weapons are light, and you can hit the point your aiming for.I've only done it a little, but it seemed as safe as rattan,or wasters. Of course I'd only do it in full armour...with no thrusting allowed...and it has to be someone I trust........Otto P...

Hello Pietro da M, Yes, you guessed it! The only reson I went with mild on the greaves and sollerets was to keep the cost down. I wont use it often, and the guys I play with dont target shins or feet,at least usually not.I probably should have gone with spring for the whole harness,I'll probably use ...

Hello William, I think it was about three and a half to four months from the time we started discussing it.Of course it took me about 2 weeks to decide what i wanted. He also had to sent plaster bandages so I could make a cast of my leg.
