Gauntlets! I've only owned one pair that was comfy, and worked reasonably well. For what its worth, "Ripleys believe it or not" column stated that King Arthurs sword "came from heaven" because it was forged from iron from a meteorite". I know there are no swords that could be attributed to belonging to Arthur,but perhaps it was a somewhat common practice in the 5th-6th centurys...

I've heard that wax works well as a resist. I think you might to be able to paint the acid on somehow,and avoid the bath. You'll have less acid to dispose of after the work is complete.
