Re: shield blanks FS and custom shields
As I understand it, They were mainly used by crossbowmen to hide behind. Kind of a movable fort. They would often drive a stake into the ground to support it. They were little used in hand to hand combat because of the large size. I believe they were probably used less in England than the continent,...

He is a French agent pulling money out of his purse to buy mercenaries for a war. I'm presuming that it is hanging off of his belt. You can also see the...

That's interesting. I always assumed the fluting was hammered in. It does look like the flutes were ground into a thick plate. At least on that example. I guess if it was hot enough and well supported on the backside, it might be hammered in without showing up on the backside? Sure looks ground in t...

Never looked at the problem in great detail, but I always thought about chiseled lines. I would think a small chisel might to the job....

I'm sure silk would be more expensive, but do you think it would be the most durable of all materials? Seems like good silk can last a loooong long time. I'm thinking hemp would hold up pretty darn well too.

Thanks! Order placed. Now I can spiff up my old HE basinet. Its had a flat ring butted aventail for many years. I made it myself and it was "sketchy" at best. LOL. It was much to nice of a hat to have a crappy butted aventail. Thanks again for the deal!

On your site it says " I AM NOT A CRAFTSMAN BUT A FIEND." I think you should change the word Fiend to Friend. A "fiend" is someone evil or demonic.
