Note on the pic above that the vambrace is riveted to the elbow cop. I quized rob about that,he said it was done for stability in display and wear.It seems to work well, but the original would have just been conected to leather straps to the rear brace, with the cop pointed to the doublet. Heres a pi...

In the 16th cent the few pickadils I've seen were always riveted in place. I think the 15th cent armours were done in the same way, lined bevors coming to mind.14th cent and earlier was probably mainly sewn in place. Sorry I couldnt be of more help. Otto

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.I'll try and get some more pics posted today. The helmet is only 16 gauge,I thought that was heavy enough for SCA at the time I ordered the Harness,Later I found out 14 is required for dished helms. So I guess I'll have to wear a different helm if I do SCA combat...

Thanks Janos, Yes indeed, I had it made to fit,and I must say it is the best fitting armour I've owned. Very comfortable, easy to walk ect.I put an old pair of coveralls on the stand he supplied, and stuffed them with newspaper to make a "dummy".When wife gets home I'll have her take a few pics of me...

I hate the fact that I smoke in garb.(guess if I hated it a little more I'd quit). I hate the fact that I dont have the funds to get everything I want, and I hate the fa...

I dont hate it either! There are a great number of good people in the SCA. It has a few faults, but oddly enough the faults could also be considered strenghts. Authenticity is lax,but that could be a good thing if your garb or armour isnt quite up to snuff.Had Magna Faire been a living history event, ...

I should say that I'm not convinced that the fauld is 100% the original configuration. The fauld on this is rather odd.But most body defence from this period had no fauld at all. This could very well be experimental.I could see where a combatant might request hip protection, and this could be what the ...

Here are a few pics of a German left vambrace circa 1560-80 showing a forge welded crack, and a cut that penetrated the outer layers of steel quite a bit,but only cut about 1/4" through the bottom layer.
