Re: Dusting off the cobwebs

Thanks for sharing all the pics and info! Amazing work as usual, Its really good to see you working again. Please just take care and don't overdue it. ( I know that's been said 20 times already, but.....What the heck, one more time!) Methinks you will go down in history as the Winkelmeyer of the 20t...

Re: 2013 study session - any interest? Help me plan.

I'd love to come over again. While any theme is a good theme at your house, I kinda like the idea of taking a suit or two apart. I know its a bit of a pain in the arse though...Well, taking apart is easy, getting everything looking "right" when you put it back together gives me fits.. Otho, m...

Re: Where's the shape?

You have to have an artistic eye to see it. I'm a halfassed artist, so even with years of practice and all the best tools..I'd be..a half assed armourer. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Armour is scuplure in steel. Its art. Fine art at that. If you cant draw it, you probably cant sculpt i...

When did they add that? Last time I shipped something (a few months ago) it was still an add-on. I refuse to pay extra for what the USPS considers "tracking" which is "package does not exist" for the duration of the shipping event, then "delivered" two weeks after the fact. I think they just starte...

Wade, I hadnt noticed before, but the cross section of the rolled roped edge looks like a ...jelly roll! Solid metal rolled over on itself. It doesnt look like a peice of wire was used in the center? It looks very well done. Thats a fine piece indeed. So smooth and uniform on the roll, using what I ...

Well...The SCA recreates the middle ages as they "should" have been. So.. if they didnt do it the way we do it back then...they did it wrong! Dang..that sounds fairly reasonable, and explains alot! Have I stumbled onto a great truth? LOL..

Re: 15th/16th century plate armours effectiveness against ar

In my opinion, flint and obsidian points are more effective against armour than iron points. The reason? They shatter like glass into shrapnel when they hit the steel plate, sending slivers in all directions, sometimes penetrating the gaps. the wounds were not that bad, unless you got a bit in the e...

Jess, are you out there? (legal advise)

Hi Jess, Sorry to bug you but iirc your a lawyer. Jiri Klepac, a talented armourer from the Czech Republic, was swindled out of a great deal of money by a company in Florida. The name of it is PARAMOUNT FINANCIAL GROUP, based in Florida. The swindlers name, if not an alias is Mr. Watson . http://www...

I think 99% of used armour sold, is not stolen. Often times people upgrade what they have or drop out.

Re: Where can I find a good Chamfron?

GREAT advise from Wade! I'm no expert, but you want it to fit the horse well. I'd recomend someone close enough to get fittings, if at all possible.. That may not be an option though. It should be big enough (very slightly oversized) to add a thin padded liner.
