Re: Safety Warning - MetalMan Welding Helmet
Flash burns to the eyes are really really painful. Feels like sand and broken glass in your eyes. Seems I never knew I burned my eyes untill I'd take a shower a few hours later. Then all hell would break loose for the next 10-12 hours...

Its refreshing to see an armourer track down a client so he can deliver the goods! Far to often its the other way around. Often with dodgey results. Well done Jackie! well done..

Re: Klingbeil Collection for auction! MUST SEE PDF!
Took another look, the basinet is 19th cent, the breastplate probably also 19th cent or newer made from reworked 16th cent plates. Probably modeled after the Churburg example, likely sold as authentic when made.

Re: Klingbeil Collection for auction! MUST SEE PDF!
I think the segmented breastplate is 19th cent though iirc. Most of the early stuff is old repro. Even quite a bit of the 16th cent stuff. There were a few nice authentic 15th cent peices however. You have to zoom in and read the captions on everything. I was shocked at the estimates on some of the ...

Bummer. As a side note, even though its a hassle to move back and forth, expensive armour should never be left in a vehicle unattended. Really, a person should never leave anything of value in a vehicle.

Tricky indeed. And values have changed over the years on certain items as well. Salt was very expensive back then. Its cheap as dog do now. On the other hand something like good quality lumber might have been cheaper back then. I'm guessing at that. I know there was more labor involved, but the supp...

And, to be completely honest, at this point he doesn't actually say it is from any particular date. He doesn't say it is fake, but he doesn't say it is 14th c. either. There are a lot of descriptions in auction catalogues that aren't all that different. The categories are: Antiques > Antiquities > ...
