A German, having a copy of an Italian made sallet, done by Jiri. That just confirms my opinion that the Czech Republic is the modern armour center of the world! Mac, I'm been thinking you must have a bit of Czech blood running through your viens. Either that or these Czech's have a bit of Scottish b...

Heehee, Glad you liked it! I think the Germans and Italians have held the title " Best Armourers" long enough. Time to hand the title over to the Czech Republic! I think you have more good armourers per square mile than any other nation on earth. And such a small nation. I rarely see any a...

I was the rude dog, I shouldnt poke fun at those who dont know any better. While there are some really knowledgeable people in the SCA, the number of those spreading misinformation is staggering. The moral to the story is, dont believe everything you hear. Do a bit of research. its fun! And you'll r...

Well made and good looking, all you need now is to make them as accurate as possible. Fraus giving great advise! Get these 'fine tuned" for accuracy, and they will sell well. And probably be even easier and cheaper to make. A win win situation.

He says his dad told him to drink a goodly quantity of milk when you feel the onset of zinc poisoning. I do not endorse trying to find out, but figured I'd pass it on none the less. It works...

When was the last time you welded on it? Opening the garage door may not be enough ventilation. Are you sure its zinc? If so, you must have gotten a heck of a dose to be sick three days. Sure its not some kind of flu?

I think its forged from heavier plate and left thick where needed, as you suggested. I believe the plates they started with , esp in the earlier period were very thick indeed. Perhaps even more like ingots of metal than the thin sheets we can make today.
