I think Chef or at least a few in his group ordered from them a few years back. Iirc no problems except sizes tended to be a bit on the small side on a few items. hmmm, maybe I'm not getting as senile as I thought! LOL.....er...that is...iirc...

I usually wax outside, a few minutes in the sun, warms the armour and makes the wax very easy to apply.

I've used Johnsons paste wax for over 30 years on armour, both repro and original pieces.

The arm harness looks very early, the breastplate also looks like it's very early as well, probably modified late in its working life into a cuirass, with the plackart and faulds added..I could be wrong though, I think I often am.

I like a thin layer of leather on the outside, I think it cushions the blows a wee bit and makes the wood last a tad longer.

I " think" he paints it with linseed oil and bakes the finish on in the forge. Then polishes the "white" areas to a high polish. I could be wrong as I'm going from memory on this.

Thanks for the compliments Talbot! I'm glad these brought back some fond memories for you guys. Eff, reissues of these kits mint in the box, show up on ebay quite often, alot cheaper than MIB original Auroras.

I think you might be right about that, if they dont have the funds in their account, they might opt to send a E check. A bit underhanded, imho, esp.if they have been hounding you about the orders. :( I'd be tempted to add them to a list of folks I woudnt do bidness with in the future! :wink:

I wouldnt be afraid of it at all. I've fought in 18 gauge mild that was fluted, and well shaped, and it held up pretty darn well. I'm just not in the market for anything right now. Poor as a church mouse and all that rot.

That is a great idea, acetone will eat though anything organic pretty darn quick. I cant believe I've never thought of that. It wont do anything to rust , but should eat through any oil PDQ.

You can also use nails, cheap and effective. Just cut the pointy end off. make them as long as needed. But I would recommend sewing them on as well.
