No Rhys.....You are doing Western Europe... We (most of the rest of the SCA) are doing Europe and incorporating other cultures that had a significant impact on it.....of which the Mongols were one.. As an obviously intelligent and learned man, it puzzles me why you would rail agianst learning someth...

Vermin- This was posted on my Kingdom Email list.. Hi, I'll jump in with my own 2 cents. The problem with the statement is that "All but proof against arrows". Which arrows? The average English archer would in most cases use 2 types of arrows, a bodkin and a broadhead, usually one that looked like a...

I agree...however my issue is this... You state that we are all noble and that archers on the battle field are a virus to be swept aside.... that to try to accurately portray things is the goal to aspire to....but where do we stop? If you replace any of these issues with other issues....do we stop t...

If you read what I said, I said it was a decent starter kit...however that helmet is a spuntop basic helmet, with articulations attached and called a Sallet...

that is not a Sallet, nor is it a Spangenhelm...

the rest of the kit is decent, but call the helm what it is... a basic, spuntop helm.

Juliana- Yes...actually the Mongol and Persian nobles were taught from just about birth how to ride and shoot, as were most of the commoners. Even the Ba'adhur (the Mongol "Knightly class") were feared for their ability with the bow. Subedai was appointed by Ghengis Khan Hmself and he was known as S...

Cheval:My arguments are grounded in our existing rules and a desire for parity loosely based on a historical model. Lamellar kilbanion and skirt.
I used to fight in a C.O.P. however I find my mobility in the Lamellar is better and it seems to conform to my body better. It offers as much protection as a C.O.P.
As well it is very easy to repair.

I beleive that you are mistaken on the 10 ft rule...

Our C/A rules are the same as the Mid and our range is "the arrow must clear the bow".

I wouldnt worry... I do not think C/A is going anywhere....if anything I see its role being expanded in the big Wars like Pennsic, Gulf Wars and Estrella. I for one will enjoy it. I enjoy shooting and enjoy fighting in a C/A enviroment. It's a great deal of fun....as long as they are heavies... NO L...
