well....from personal experience....these may be too light.

I use a pair similar to these and they are 15 to 15 oz and every now and then I get a *stinger* on the back of the hand. 11-12 oz might be somwhat worse.

although mine are wax hardened...

I see many of your points Sir Rhys....and I agree that much of what you purpose would bring us closer to what a tourney was like......in the later periods. Every thing you are talkng about happened in a span of 200 years or so.....which leaves about 800 years worth of interest out in the cold. I, fo...

most "War Doors" that I have seen are 24 x 48 as this is a 48" X 48" sheet of 1/4 ply cut in half and put in a shield press.

However most rules on Tourney shields vary from Kingdom to Kingdom

In mine it is no more than shoulder width wide, and chin to crotch max

One of the big differences is Masters cannot make Knights. If a Master at Arms sits the throne and wants to Knight someone....a Knight must hold the sword because regardless of being King or not....only a Knight can make a Knight. I as a squire do not look at Masters and differently than Knights.......

So....to play Devil's advoacate here..

for those who have seen public rebuke, and private "peer pressure" .....

which is more effective?

Is the public humiliation more likely to get a spiteful, reactive response or the private?

Is the Private more likely to work or be ignored?
