well....good point but the rules state that a sword must have a blade edge marked. So if a shot doesnt land on the blade edge...it isnt good...

however, as you state if this is baton combat why does it matter...

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...........

no good answer on that one....

Bob H... I really hate to say this but it doesnt matter in this case.... the SCA (right or wrong...lets not start that thread AGAIN!!) has certain combat rules that are not in any way representative of medieval behourd tourneys...so to use a period example of what was done is irrelevant. I asked wha...

Just as a note....I never give PoH in a Tourney (the Leg for a Leg, Arm for an Arm thing).

However I will allways tell my opponent that the blow was no good/light/flat/tippy if they go to take a blow I feel was no good....

Points of Honour....Opinions???

On the Midrealm Combat list there is a great discussion about Points of Honour (here on referred to as "PoH"). the general consensus is that PoH such as giving up an arm or leg to even the fight up is seen as insulting to your opponent or grandstanding to the gallery or assembled Chiv. on the other ...

Not here in Ealdormere. The differences are small but significant. Armour is society minimum except that you must also cover the sternum and Xyphoid process. AND if you are in the Junior combat age group (16-17) you must wear Vambraces, cuises and full body armour. Those are the only differences I k...

this is my humble opinion... oil dyes are best for armour... block dyeing works much better than the little stick sponge thing you can buy at the leather shop.... when you think you have too much dye in your work shop..you are wrong... do not dye the side of the leather that touches your skin...
